President Joe Biden said on Friday in Baltimore that the federal government will pay to rebuild "entire" Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Biden reiterated he will ask the U.S. Congress for the funds to complete the project, which some experts have said could take as little as 18 months or as much as 10 years, according to the Associated Press.

"I fully intend as the governor knows to have the federal government cover the cost of building this entire bridge, all of it," Biden said with the collapsed bridge in the background.

Biden said $60 million in "emergency federal funding" has already been approved.

During his remarks, Biden compared the loss of his son Beau to the workers who lost their lives as a result of the collapse.

"It's not the same but I know a little bit about what it's like to lose a piece of your soul," he said. "I've been there."
