Chuck Schumer and bipartisan Senate delegation rushed to Tel Aviv bomb shelter
"We must provide Israel with the support required to defend itself," Schumer said.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., was rushed to a bomb shelter in Tel Aviv on Sunday alongside a bipartisan Senate delegation visiting Israel as Hamas rockets rained down upon the country.
"While in Tel Aviv today, our delegation was rushed to a shelter to wait out rockets sent by Hamas. It shows you what Israelis have to go through. We must provide Israel with the support required to defend itself," Schumer posted on X, formerly Twitter, along with a photo of the senators in the shelter.
The Senate delegation also includes Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La.; Sen. Jacky Rosen, D-Nev.; Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah; and Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz.
The senators are visiting Israel after Hamas terrorists murdered more than 1,300 people last Saturday in Israel, including at least 29 U.S. citizens, as well as women, children and the elderly, in the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust. Hamas, the U.S. State Department-designated terrorist organization that rules the Gaza Strip, has been continuously launching rockets at Israel since the initial attack.
