GOP Reps. support subpoena if Hunter Biden doesn't show up for upcoming hearing

"If he refuses, then then I think we need to refer his case for prosecution," Biggs said.

Congressman Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., on Tuesday said that if first son Hunter Biden doesn't show up for an upcoming hearing held by the Oversight Committee, he should be subpoenaed.

"I think if he doesn't show tomorrow, we need to issue a subpoena [and] immediately give it to him, let him come back in publicly," Biggs said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "And if he refuses, then I think we need to refer his case for prosecution."

The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability is expected to hold a hearing on Wednesday titled “Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden’s Abuse of Public Office" to examine President Biden's alleged role in his family's business deals that involved his son.

Former Trump aide Peter Navarro on Tuesday reported to a federal prison in Miami to start his four-month sentence for his congressional contempt conviction after he defied a subpoena from the now-dissolved House select committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riot.

Biggs called out the hypocrisy of Navarro's treatment compared to Hunter Biden's.

"They understand very clearly Peter Navarro, supporter of Donald Trump....whether you like what he did or didn't do, he's going to prison," he said. "Hunter Biden [is] equivalently situated as far as not coming in, making those choices, basically thumbing his nose at the congressional authority and he doesn't get referred even to this two-tiered system that Americans are concerned about, justifiably so."

Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene agreed with Biggs about issuing a subpoena for Hunter Biden if he doesn't show up for the hearing.

"I completely support giving him a subpoena," she said on an upcoming episode of the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "I completely support holding him in contempt of Congress. If he doesn't show up. That's absolutely what we should be doing. He called our committee a circus. You know, it's Hunter Biden that has created the circus over and over again."
