Freshman Tennessee congressman under fire over creds admits listing incorrect degree on resume
Questions about Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles' resume are similar to those being raised about the credentials of fellow GOP freshmen Rep. George Santos.
Freshman Tennessee GOP Rep. Andy Ogles is acknowledging having listed an incorrect degree on his resume, saying he realized the mistake of having listed it as international relations, not liberal studies, only after the matter was questioned.
A local TV station earlier this month released an investigative report questioning Ogles' academic and work history, following similar questions, but on a smaller scale, about the resume of fellow GOP freshman Rep. George Santos, of New York.
"When I pulled my transcript to verify, I realized I was mistaken," Ogles said about an undergraduate diploma from Middle Tennessee State University. "My degree is in Liberal Studies. I apologize for my misstatement."
When he completed his online college courses, he thought at the time that he had studied political science and international relations, Ogles also wrote.
The Tennessee Republican's official House website states: "Andy obtained his degree from MTSU, where he studied policy and economics."
