House Majority Whip Tom Emmer gave a fiery speech in Dallas on Wednesday night, reminding Republican voters that there are just 55 days until the midterms and blasted the rise in democratic socialism.

Emmer's speech was part of the first ever Republican midterm convention, which is taking place in Dallas, Texas. The two-day event will feature speeches from multiple GOP leaders and President Donald Trump is expected to speak both nights. 

The Republican Whip urged Republican voters to vote in the upcoming midterm elections this November, stating that the choice is between "common sense" and communism under the guise of socialism.

"This is an election between common sense and communism, between America-loving patriots and hate America extremists, between freedom and tyranny," Emmer said. "The Communist Party, excuse me, the Democrats have no leader and they have no message. 

"The only thing they can agree on is their disgusting hatred of America and our great president," he continued. "These people are sick."

Emmer claimed that Democrats want to abolish the Senate and open American borders to "criminals and fentanyl." He also argued that the socialist candidates seeing success in the primaries are actually "communists" and "anarchists."

"These people and the left-wing corrupt media want us to call them democratic socialists. It's another lie," he said. "Do not let them do it. There is absolutely nothing democratic about socialism. These people aren't even socialists. They're communists and they're anarchists, and they hate our country."

The general election will take place on Nov. 3.
