A top-ranking FBI cyber official told the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday he doesn’t know the whereabouts of Hunter Biden's infamous laptop, while Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., entered the computer's contents into the congressional record during the hearing.

FBI Assistant Director for the Cyber Division Bryan Vorndran told the committee that he has "no background" on the Hunter Biden laptop investigation and could not confirm whether the laptop was authentic.

In an exchange with Vorndran, Gaetz asked about the location of the laptop containing evidence of the overseas business dealings Hunter Biden pursued while his father was vice president.

"Sir, I'm not here to talk about the laptop, I'm here to talk about the FBI cyber program," Vorndran responded.

Gaetz pressed again to find out the whereabouts of the laptop.

"Sir, I don't know that answer," the FBI cyber official replied.

Vorndran gave similar answers when Gaetz asked about security surrounding the laptop.

For example, Gaetz asked "whether or not the first family is compromised as a result of the Hunter Biden laptop."

"Sir, as a representative of the FBI cyber program, it's not in the realm of my responsibilities to deal with the questions that you're asking me," he insisted.

When asked about if the bureau had looked into security breaches that could have resulted from the laptop, the assistant FBI director asserted, "We can do this back and forth for the next couple of minutes. I don't have any information about the Hunter Biden laptop."

Gaetz then motioned to have the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop, which he had in his possession, into the congressional record.

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., initially objected to Gaetz's move before the laptop was eventually accepted into the record.

Also on Tuesday, Gaetz moved to introduce a resolution stripping security clearances from the former intelligence officials who claimed that the Hunter Biden laptop was part of a Russian information campaign.
