Judiciary Chairman Jordan issues subpoena to DA Fani Willis for alleged misuse of federal funds
Trump is now the frontrunner for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan has reportedly issued a subpoena to the office of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis – which is leading one of several investigations now against former President Trump – for alleged misuse of federal funds.
The subpoena follows allegations Willis, who has charged Trump with trying to interfere with the 2020 Georgia results, fired a whistleblower who attempted to stop a campaign aide from misusing federal funds.
The subpoena obtained by NBC News, requests Willis's office to hand over documents and communications “referring or relating to the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office’s receipt and use of federal funds” and “referring or relating to any allegations of the misuse of federal funds.”
Willis has already condemned Jordan's inquiry into the Trump indictment, saying there's “no justification in the Constitution for Congress to interfere with a state criminal matter.”
Jordan has said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show that his committee also plans to look into Willis' alleged romatic and inappropriate relationship with a prosecutor for the case .
"Were federal funds involved with this?" Jordan asked on the show. "This is one of the questions we typically ask when we see this kind of stuff. ... we're definitely gonna look into this."
