GOP Congressman Cline says second Mayorkas impeachment vote will be 'nail biter' due to weather
'We also know that there's snow in the New York area, and that is delaying flights,' says Rep. Cline. 'So the vote may actually be kept open for several hours, as we wait for everybody to get here.'
Rep. Ben Cline, R-Va., said on Tuesday night that the second vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will be a "nail biter."
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has selected Cline as one of the 11 impeachment managers for the Mayorkas trial should the measure pass in the House. The vote is scheduled for Tuesday evening.
"It is going to be a nail biter. We're unsure whether we are going to be fully at 100% participation by Republicans. We do have our majority leader, Steve Scalise, back in town. But we also know that there's snow in the New York area, and that is delaying flights," he said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV program on Tuesday.
"And so, being that it's a fly-in day, you never know who's going to get on the wrong end of a flight and get here late. So the vote may actually be kept open for several hours, as we wait for everybody to get here," he added.
Last week, the first vote on the resolution took place after nearly 3 hours of debate on the House floor but it failed to pass 216-214.
