Sen. Chuck Grassley on Thursday said the Justice Department and the FBI must "come clean" about whistleblower allegations regarding an alleged pay-for-play scheme involving President Biden or risk losing credibility.

"Based on protected and highly credible whistleblower disclosures, the unclassified document exists, and it allegedly references a criminal scheme involving then-Vice President Biden," Grassley, an Iowa Republican, said on the Senate floor in prepared remarks. "Notably, it’s a crime to provide false information to Congress during a congressional investigation. This very specific document was generated by FBI agents themselves."

Grassley and House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer wrote a letter Wednesday to FBI Director Christopher Wray along with a subpoena demanding an FBI whistleblower document raising concerns about Biden allegedly engaging in a bribery scheme with a foreign national during his time in the Obama administration.

"It’s time for the Justice Department and FBI to come clean to the American people," Grassley also said. "Simply put, did the Justice Department and FBI treat this information like they would if We the People were implicated, or did they sweep it under the rug to protect then-candidate Biden and President Biden now?"

Grassley, who has investigated the Biden family's alleged wrongdoing for years, concluded his speech by stating that if the government agencies want to regain government trust, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Wray must provide answers. "Their credibility is on the line."
