The House of Representatives on Friday approved a stopgap spending bill to keep the government open through March 14.

After scrapping a 1547-page bill on Wednesday, the House failed to pass a 116-page version on Thursday. The Friday vote saw lawmakers back a 118-page version in an 366 to 34 vote. The bill earned considerable Democratic support, with only a handful of Republicans opposing it.

As the bill did not first clear the Rules Committee, it needed two-thirds support to pass.

The bill notably did not include provisions to address the debt limit sought by President-elect Donald Trump. Both sides, however, are likely to claim a victory, as Republicans may point to the final version's vastly reduced size while Democrats may highlight its exclusion of a Trump-desired provision.

The bill now heads to the Senate, where its passage is unclear.
