House Democrat Cicilline to leave Congress in June for foundation post
Cicilline called the opportunity to run the foundation was "unexpected" but nevertheless "extraordinary."
Rhode Island Democrat Rep. David Cicilline will leave Congress in June to become president and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation, his office announced on Tuesday.
Cicilline said the opportunity to run the foundation was "unexpected" but nevertheless an "extraordinary opportunity to have an even more direct and meaningful impact" on the lives of Rhode Islanders.
Cicilline was for elected to the House in 2010. The special election will held to fill the seat for the remainder of his term, according to The Hill newspaper.
