House Freedom Caucus Chairman Good ousts executive director over fundraising woes: report
The two organizations only raised a total of $6.7 million this election cycle, a significant drop from the $18 million they raised in 2022, and $20 million they raised in 2020.
House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good has removed the leader two of the group's major fundraising arms, according to a news report Thursday morning.
The ouster of Ray Yonkura from House Freedom Fund and House Freedom Action is being reported by Punchbowl News, based on what the online political newsletter said is multiple sources.
The two groups collectively raised just $6.7 million this election cycle, compared to $18 million in 2022 and $20 million in 2020.
Yonkura has been a long-time ally of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, who helped create the caucus, among the most far-right in the House, and previously served as its chairman.
Jordan, an Ohio Republican, has reportedly questioned the fundraising arms over how they plans to protect more vulnerable members including Pennsylvania Rep. Scott Perry if they have just $6.7 million in their coffers this year.
The reported ousting comes as Good is awaiting the result of a primary challenge earlier this month from the Trump-backed state Sen. John McGuire, who leads by 375 votes. The Associated Press still has the race as "too close to call." Good says he'll call for a recount if McGuire is declared the winner.
He declined to comment on Yonkura's reported ouster when asked by Punchbowl.
