House Homeland Committee Chair to DHS OIG: Release 'unredacted' report of inadequate asylum vetting
In the report, the OIG found DHS is "failing to adequately screen and vet asylum seekers and inadmissible aliens who are applying for admission into the United States," according to Green's office
House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, R-Tenn., is pushing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) to provide a complete and "unredacted version" of its report showing inadequate vetting of asylum seekers attempting to enter the U.S.
Green wrote the letter on Monday to DHS Inspector General Joseph Cuffari requesting the full June 7 report without redactions. In the report, the OIG "found that DHS is failing to adequately screen and vet asylum seekers and inadmissible aliens who are applying for admission into the United States," Green's office said in a news release.
The report also said that the DHS screening processes are “not fully effective."
