House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., requested on Wednesday that Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy immediately remove Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, from her position.

Johnson's office said his letter was written in response to Markarova organizing a tour of an American manufacturing site with Zelenskyy in a "political battleground state, led by a top political surrogate for Kamala Harris, and purposely excluded Republicans."

Johnson wrote in the letter that Republicans have lost trust in Markarova's “ability to fairly and effectively serve as a diplomat in this country."

In the letter, Johnson said the tour was a "partisan campaign event designed to help Democrats and is clearly election interference."
