First son Hunter Biden will appear before the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees for a deposition on Feb. 28., the panels announced Thursday.

"Hunter Biden will appear before our committees for a deposition on February 28, 2024. His deposition will come after several interviews with Biden family members and associates. We look forward to Hunter Biden’s testimony," Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan and Oversight Chairman James Comer said in a joint statement.

The panels further announced the would continue to work with other witnesses, including former Biden family associates such as Tony Bobulinski and Rob Walker.

The first son previously objected to a closed door deposition, demanding a public hearing instead. He appeared at the Capitol in December ahead of a scheduled deposition, but did not attend and instead held a press conference.

He later crashed his own contempt hearing, but left the building as Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene began to speak.

Biden Attorney Abbe Lowell informed Comer and Jordan last week that Hunter would agree to sit for a deposition if they issued a new subpoena.

"If you issue a new proper subpoena, now that there is a duly authorized impeachment inquiry, Mr. Biden will comply for a hearing or deposition," he informed the pair. "We will accept such a subpoena on Mr. Biden’s behalf."
