Jim Jordan racks up endorsements for House Speaker following Trump support
Some endorsements came from Greg Steube (R-Fl.), Dan Bishop (R-Nc.) and Troy Nehls (R-Tx.).
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Oh.) has had multiple colleagues endorse him to be the next House Speaker, following the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
"The next Speaker of the House must be someone who can unite our conference," Rep. Ben Cline (R-Va.) posted on X Friday. "@Jim_Jordan is that person. He is a strong leader, principled, respected, and a champion of conservative values. That’s why I fully support him as the next Speaker of the House."
Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fl.) also threw her support behind Jordan as well.
"I am casting my vote for Speaker of the 118th Congress and give my full endorsement to my friend & colleague Representative @Jim_Jordan," Paulina wrote on social media. "He is fair, honest, articulate, and Trustworthy. He has demonstrated all of these as Chairman of House Judiciary. This is a vote to stop weaponized government and to hold the Biden administration accountable."
Other endorsements came from Greg Steube (R-Fl.), Dan Bishop (R-Nc.) and Troy Nehls (R-Tx.).
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was ousted as House Speaker earlier this week by eight House Republicans. Many of them initially opposed McCarthy's speakership, and cited recent budget negotiations as the reason for ousting him.
Jordan and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) announced their candidacies for the position on Wednesday.
Former President Donald Trump endorsed Jordan Thursday night, saying he is "respected by all."
“He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!” Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform.
The House is expected to vote on a new speaker next week.
