House Speaker Mike Johnson told House GOP members on a conference call Friday that he will put a short-term spending bill for the Department of Homeland Security to a vote instead of the Senate's measure, according to a report.

The temporary measure would fund all of DHS for 60 days, an anonymous source told NBC News. It has yet to be determined when that vote will occur.  

The House Freedom Caucus on Friday pushed back on the Senate deal passed overnight, which left out funds for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and parts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The caucus vowed to vote against it, complicating a quick passage in the House.

DHS has not been fully funded for 42 days.

Johnson’s proposal would not immediately reopen DHS, as the Senate has already left for recess. Senate Democrats have said they won’t fund ICE or CBP without passing reforms.
