Jordan: 'Somebody's not telling the truth' about Hunter Biden probe and it's not the whisleblower
Jordan on the IRS whistleblower: 'He handled some of the biggest international tax fraud cases at the agency and the things he's told us just do not correspond with what Merrick Garland said'
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan told Just the News that "somebody's not telling the truth" about the Hunter Biden probe and it's not the IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley, who he described as "very credible."
"Somebody's not telling the truth and it sure doesn't look like it's the whistleblower. I think he's with the IRS like 14 years," he said on Thursday evening. "He is, you know, credible, I think, in so many ways. He handled some of the biggest international tax fraud cases at the agency and the things he's told us just do not correspond with what Merrick Garland said."
Garland has said his department allowed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss to lead the probe but Shapley argued that it wasn't independently run. He alleged that the U.S. Justice Department interfered with the investigation at numerous stages.
Jordan vowed to "continue to dig," "follow the facts," and see where that leads.
"The attorney general, and David Weiss and some of these other people that we've now asked to talk to, we're looking forward to getting the chance to interview those and see what they have to say," he said.
U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland is scheduled to testify on Sept. 20 but a spokesperson with the House Judiciary Committee said the recent whistleblower allegations could change the timing of it.
