Los Angeles County prosecutors reviewed a case involving former Rep. Eric Swalwell to determine whether criminal charges were warranted following a sheriff’s department investigation, according to NBC News.

The county district attorney’s sex crimes unit received the case on Sept. 21 after an investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, a spokesperson told NBC News.

Prosecutors have not announced whether they would file charges.

Swalwell, a California Democrat, resigned from Congress in April and withdrew from the state’s gubernatorial race following multiple allegations of sexual assault and misconduct. He has denied the allegations against him.
