Michigan Rep. Lisa McClain selected as Republican House Conference chairwoman
"I am honored to be chosen by my colleagues to serve as the Republican Conference Chairwoman and I thank my constituents in MI-09 for their continued support," McClain wrote on the social media platform, X.
Congresswoman Lisa McClain, R-Mich., announced Wednesday that she had been chosen by her colleagues to be the chairwoman of the Republican House Conference.
"I am honored to be chosen by my colleagues to serve as the Republican Conference Chairwoman and I thank my constituents in MI-09 for their continued support," McClain wrote on the social media platform, X.
After President-elect Donald Trump recently announced that he was appointing Stefanik as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, the position for conference chair opened up.
Stefanik became the GOP conference chairwoman in 2021 after Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., was ousted from the position.
"I am excited to lead our unified team alongside President Trump and @SpeakerJohnson to pass the America First agenda," McClain said.
Other candidates that ran for the seat or considered running included Reps. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., and Blake Moore, R-Utah.
