Nearly 11 million illegal immigrant encounters have occurred since Biden-Harris took office: GOP
Republicans say the latest Customs and Border Protection (CBP) figures underscore Harris' failure as the Biden administration's "border czar"
Nearly 11 million illegal immigrant encounters have occurred nationwide since Biden-Harris took office, according to GOP lawmakers who cited the latest data from Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
In September, there were 101,790 illegal crossings at the southern border, including migrants who made asylum appointments at ports of entry through the CBP One app.
In FY2024, more than 2.1 million migrant encounters occurred at the U.S.-Mexico border.
"This means that since Biden & Harris took office: Over 10.8 million illegal crossings nationwide; 390 encounters on the terrorist watchlist; 2 million known gotaways," wrote Rep. Stephanie Bice, R-Okla., on X on Wednesday.
CBP just released shocking new data, and it underscores Kamala Harris’s failure as Border Czar," said Rep. Jodey Arrington, R-Texas.
Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart, R-Fla., said Harris has "failed as border czar," given the CBP statistics.
"OVER 10.8 million illegal immigrant crossings nationwide. OVER 8.7 million illegal immigrant encounters at our southern border," Díaz-Balart wrote on X. "OVER 390 known terrorists. She has put the safety of the American people and our country at great risk."
Rep. John James, R-Mich., said the latest CBP numbers show that Harris and Biden has "failed to remove 99.7% of illegal immigrants."
Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., said the latest CBP statistics "reveal that more people have illegally crossed into our country under the Biden-Harris Administration than any other in US history, and we still don’t know where many of them are."
Lankford, who negotiated the border deal in the Senate that failed to pass this year, argued that the Biden administration has "never been serious about securing the border."
