New York Republicans slam AOC for flying first class to Bernie Sanders' 'Fighting Oligarchy' rally
NY Republicans slammed the move as "hypocritical" given the congresswoman's push to support working class voters. AOC represents parts of the working-class New York City boroughs of Queens and the Bronx.
New York Republicans on Monday slammed Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, after an image surfaced of her allegedly flying to Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders' “Fighting Oligarchy" event last month.
The congresswoman, who slammed Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer before for not working harder to support the working class, reportedly flew in a first-class cabin of JetBlue Flight 511 on March 19, which departed from JFK Airport in Queens for Las Vegas, Nevada, according to a photo obtained by the New York Post.
It is not clear how much the first-class ticket cost, but the outlet reported that a first-class ticket on the same flight and route later this month would cost $1,100.
First-class seats have also been slammed by climate-change activists because of how much room they take up on a flight.

“Socialists are hypocrites. I’m surprised she didn’t take a private jet like most of her comrades,” New York GOP Rep. Nicole Malliotakis told the New York Post.
State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar also echoed the statement that the move was hypocritical of the New Yorker, and showed how out of touch she is with her constituents.
The observations come after the congresswoman pushed for Democrats at the rally to reject the new Trump administration, who the party has accused of trying to curry favor with the elite.
"We as a community must choose and vote for Democrats and elected officials who know how to stand for the working class," Ocasio-Cortez said. “We’re gonna throw these bums out and fight for the nation we deserve. This isn’t just about Republicans. We need a Democratic Party that fights harder for us, too.”
