Georgia incumbent GOP Sen. Raphael Warnock raised over $17.2 million during the second fundraising quarter of the year, more than doubling the $6.2 million reported by Republican opponent Herschel Walker, according to The Hill.

Warnock's campaign said the average donation was $37 and that it had received donations from nearly 260,000 individuals. Warnock's campaign currently has $22.2 million cash on hand.

"This haul and the tens of thousands of grassroots donors lining up to support this campaign in record numbers are just the latest sign that Georgians see Reverend Warnock working on their behalf in the U.S. Senate and they are ready to help propel our campaign to victory," said Warnock campaign manager Quentin Fulks.

"They know Herschel Walker has spent his campaign misleading the people of Georgia about his record and making bizarre and false claims. While he keeps showing the people of Georgia he isn’t ready to represent them, we’ll keep working hard to show the people of Georgia that Reverend Warnock is fighting for them and they have a clear choice this November."

Warnock's race is considered one of the most competitive in the country after both incumbent Republicans narrowly lost their reelection bids in runoff elections in January of 2021. Warnock is competing for his first full term in the Senate.

The RealClearPolitics.com polls average has the race essentially deadlocked.

Georgia Democrats are currently out-raising Republicans by multiples. It was reported last week that gubernatorial candidate Stacy Abrams raised a combined $22 million last quarter, compared to incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp's nearly $4 million haul.
