House GOP leaders released a new version of spending bill designed to avoid a government shutdown on Friday at midnight, which now includes temporary debt limit increase.
The new bill, the American Relief Act 2025, does not include the cost-of-living salary adjustments for lawmakers that were in the original bipartisan version that was released on Tuesday evening.
The bill does include a provision to extend the debt limit through January 2027, which was not in the original bipartisan version of the bill. President-elect Trump advocated for included in a new version.
The bill is expected to be voted on in the House on Thursday night. Trump put out a statement endorsing the legislation while House Democratic leaders said they oppose the bill.
