Rep. Jim Jordan blasts Ohio Republicans for proposed redistricting map

Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan blasted members of his own party Tuesday accusing state Republicans of attempting to oust him from office following the release of a proposed Ohio redistricting map.

"They tried it when I stood up to former Speaker John Boehner, and now they’re trying it again," Jordan said in a statement. "RINOs and special interests in Ohio’s state capital are attempting to draw me out of a congressional district!"

"The gerrymandered map was just released this week, and it draws my home into a district halfway across the state...a district that currently favors Democrats by 19 percentage points," he added.

"The political bosses in Ohio are trying to keep me out of Congress because they know I won’t go along with the status quo, and as long as I’m in office – I’ll continue to be a thorn in the side of anyone OF EITHER PARTY," Jordan concluded.

According to Fox News, following the 2020 Census Ohio is scheduled to lose a congressional seat in 2022, causing state officials to parse out which congressional districts they will have to combine.

There are currently two competing maps at play in Ohio. Republicans need at least one-third of the Democrats in the state legislature to sign off on one of the maps in order for it to be approved.
