GOP Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina hospitalized after collapse

Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., has been hospitalized after collapsing, according to Wilson's office on Tuesday.

Wilson, 77, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, returned from official trips to Asia and Europe on the same day.

"Congressman Joe Wilson (R-SC) was taken ill and is being evaluated at a local hospital in Washington, DC," his office wrote on X.

Wilson famously yelled, "You lie" during former President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress in 2009.

He shouted when Obama said that the proposed health care reform bill would not provide health coverage for illegal immigrants.

He apologized after the incident.
