Congressional Republicans knocked it out of the park Wednesday night when they defeated their Democratic counterparts in the annual Congressional Baseball Game at Nationals Park.

Republicans won for the sixth year in a row, defeating Democrats 11-2. The Republican team was helmed by Texas GOP Rep. Roger Williams and the Democrats were coached by California Democratic Rep. Linda Sanchez.

The teams largely consist of House lawmakers, but Sens. Joni Ernst of Iowa and Eric Schmitt of Missouri are on the Republican team and Sens. Ruben Gallego of Arizona and Alex Padilla of California are on team Democrat.

The traditional game dates back to the early 1900s, and has been largely dominated by conservatives since the 1960s. Republicans have now won 39 of the games and Democrats have won 23 times since 1962.

The baseball game, which is played for charity, has become a staple in Washington, D.C. The game raises money for the Congressional Sports for Charity.
