Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called on the Trump administration Monday to set up a briefing with members of Congress on its latest peace agreement with Iran.

President Donald Trump on Sunday announced that the U.S. and Iran agreed to a deal to end the conflict in the Middle East that would see the U.S. immediately end its naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Vice President JD Vance confirmed that Iran and the U.S. digitally signed the document on Sunday and a formal signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday.

“The American people deserve details and full transparency – what exactly is in this 'understanding'? Will servicemembers remain in harm’s way?" Schumer said in a statement. “Trump must release the details publicly, brief Congress immediately, and end this war for good.”

The senator also highlighted how Americans have been told in the past that peace would be reached soon or that a deal had been struck, just for something to jeopardize the agreement.

“We’ve been told dozens of times that the war is over," Schumer said. "Dozens of times, we have been left disappointed."

Speculation on the details of the peace agreement has been circulating since the deal was announced, including comments that Iran might receive access to a $300 billion reconstruction fund if it upholds its end of the bargain. However, Trump has denied the speculation as "fake news."

The president said Iran has agreed to "never have a nuclear weapon."
