Senate Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rand Paul announced Tuesday that the committee will hold a business meeting to consider a resolution authorizing an application for a court order compelling testimony under immunity from Dr. Anthony Fauci’s former longtime special assistant.

The business meeting will take place Wednesday and is part of the committee's investigation into the origins of COVID-19 and risky life sciences research. 

The committee is required under federal law to seek a court order when two-thirds of its members approve the request. 

The business meeting is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. Eastern in the Dirksen Senate Office Building. It is the only business on the meeting's agenda.
