The Senate on Friday rejected the House's stopgap spending bill to avert a government shutdown in 11 days.

The bill was defeated in a 44-48 vote, with Pennsylvania Democratic Sen. John Fetterman voting for the Republican bill, and GOP Sens. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voting against it, The Hill news outlet reported.

The continuing resolution would have funded the government until Nov. 21.
