Texas Rep. Wesley Hunt slams Biden 'jet lag' excuse for debate performance
"I don't want to hear anything about jet lag," Congressman Wesley Hunt said.
Congressman Wesley Hunt, R-Texas, slammed White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre's explanation that President Joe Biden's "jet lag" caused him to do badly in the debate against presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump.
"The Democrats have been lying to us for three and a half years about his health," Hunt said on the Wednesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "We knew back in 2020 when he was running from the basement that we were probably in trouble."
Trump and Biden squared off in the first presidential debate last week where Biden performed poorly, resulting in some Democratic leaders calling on him to suspend his campaign.
Jean-Pierre attributed Biden's debate performance to him having a cold and having jet lag.
"He had a schedule that was rigorous, the travel he had to do, going from Italy all the way to the west coast," she said, according to Reason. "I think that can have a toll on anyone, whether you're 20 or 80."
Hunt said that if someone is going to be the leader of the free world, they can't let jet lag take them down.
"I don't want to hear anything about jet lag," he said. "I have traveled with President Trump on his plane. I have watched him go from court to court, then to a rally then to another meeting... then to another rally and then back in court. Jet lag has nothing to do with it."
