Tim Scott engaged to girlfriend in South Carolina beach proposal
Scott said that Saturday, the day he proposed, former President Donald Trump had asked the senator to endorse him and attend an event for it.
South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, a former 2024 Republican presidential candidate, is engaged to his girlfriend Mindy Noce after he proposed to her on the beach of their home state.
"She said YES," Scott posted Sunday on X, formerly Twitter, alongside pictures of the proposal on the beach. "Mindy, thank you for making me the luckiest man in the world. 'He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord' - Proverbs 18:22."
Scott, 58, confirmed the proposal on Fox News' "Sunday Night in America," and said that Saturday, the day he proposed, former President Donald Trump had asked the senator to endorse him and attend an event for it.
"I said, 'Off the table. I've got something more important to do on a Saturday.' It's the second most important decision you'll make in a lifetime. Making Jesus Christ the Lord of my life was number one, and the woman I'm going to marry – number two," Scott said.
"I wanted to make sure that sacred day would not be disturbed by anything political."
Scott dropped out of the presidential race in November, days after he made news when his then-girlfriend joined him onstage after the Republican presidential primary debate. Scott endorsed Trump on Friday.
