Trump endorses ex-Freedom Caucus leader Scott Perry for reelection in 2026
Perry, a known Trump ally who represents the state's 10th congressional district, narrowly won his race last year. He is seeking his eighth term in Congress in 2026.
President Donald Trump on Thursday endorsed Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., for reelection in next year's midterms.
Perry, the former chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, is a known Trump ally who represents the state's 10th congressional district. He is seeking an eighth term in Congress.
"A retired Army Brigadier General, Scott is a MAGA Warrior, who always puts AMERICA FIRST," Trump shared in a post on Truth Social. "Scott is working tirelessly with me to Secure the Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Grow our Economy, Strengthen our Military and Veterans, Uphold the Rule of Law, Protect our always under siege Second Amendment, and Restore PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH.
"An Original Member of my Pennsylvania Federal Leadership Team, Scott Perry has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election – HE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN," he added.
The president endorsed five other Republican lawmakers on Wednesday, including South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham. Republicans won back control of the White House last year, and flipped the Senate. They also kept control of the House.
Trump's endorsement of Perry is somewhat notable as Trump has occasionally traded barbs with Freedom Caucus lawmakers over budget policy. He previously endorsed a successful primary challenge to former Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., who succeeded Perry as the caucus chairman.
