U.S. Capitol Police arrest man who 'smelled like fuel, had a torch & a flare gun'
Capitol Visitor Center "closed for tours for the day, while we investigate," it says.
Halfway through Election Day, U.S. Capitol Police announced they had "arrested a man who was stopped during our screening process at the Capitol Visitor Center" and "smelled like fuel, had a torch & a flare gun."
It said investigators "tracked the suspect's previous movements and located his vehicle at 9th and Maryland Avenue, NE, which was just cleared," and USCP will host a press briefing "around" 3 p.m. outside the CVC, which is "closed to tours for the day."
