District staffers for Virginia Congressman Connolly remain in hospital after baseball bat attack
"The thought that someone would take advantage of my staff's accessibility to commit an act of violence is unconscionable and devastating," Connolly said.
Virginia Democrat Rep. Gerry Connolly said Monday a person entered his district office with a baseball bat and beat two members of his staff, leaving them hospitalized.
The suspect is in police custody and the staffers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Connolly also said.
He thanked the Fairfax Police Department and medical personnel for their response.
The suspect had asked for the congressman before using the bat on the staffers, officials said.
"The thought that someone would take advantage of my staff's accessibility to commit an act of violence is unconscionable and devastating," Connolly also said.
