Wray: More law enforcement officers were murdered in June than any other month in the last 4 years
The FBI director says violent crime is the number one concern he hears about from police chiefs
FBI Director Chris Wray says the job of being a police officer is becoming even more dangerous as violent criminal activity escalates across the country.
Wray said 73 law enforcement officers were killed on the job last year, which was more than any year since the 9/11 attacks.
"This year's deaths are nearly keeping pace with last year," Wray said during the Oversight of the Federal Bureau of Investigation hearing. "This June, more officers were murdered in this country than in any single month in the past four years."
Wray told the Senate Judiciary Committee that violent crime is the number one concern he hears about from police chiefs.
