Accused Pentagon leaker Teixeira to plead guilty in Discord document dumps
Teixeira is due to appear in court on Monday.
A Massachusetts Air National Guardsman accused of leaking classified materials on a Discord server will plead guilty, the Washington Post reported, citing a filing from federal prosecutors.
Jack Teixeira is due to appear in court on Monday. He previously pleaded not guilty to the charges after his arrest in April of last year.
Over the course of several months, Teixeira alleged posted hundreds of pages of sensitive military intelligence, including assessment of the Russian and Ukrainian militaries, to the Discord group "Thug Shaker Central." The postings went unnoticed for months.
Court filings from May of last year revealed that Teixeira's superiors had repeatedly warned him about his handling of classified materials. In September of 2022, he received a warning against taking notes on classified materials.
In October of that year, his superior was made aware that he was likely ignoring warnings against accessing classified materials. In February 2023, he was observed accessing materials unconnected to his position.
