America First Legal sues NY Ethics Commission, Judge Merchan for withholding financial disclosures

AFL again requested the financial disclosures last Friday and threatened legal action if it did not receive them.

America First Legal sued the Judge Juan Merchan as well as the Ethics Commission for the New York State Unified Court System on Thursday for not releasing Merchan’s financial disclosure forms from 2018 through 2024. 

The group said in a news release that the public disclosure of the financial records upon request is currently required New York law. 

AFL initially requested the financial disclosures on June 6, 2024 but it did not receive a response.

AFL again requested the financial disclosures last Friday and threatened legal action if it did not receive them.

Merchan presided over former President Trump's hush money trial where a jury found him guilty of all charges. His sentencing hearing is expected later this month.
