The criminal charges against professional golfer Scottie Scheffler were dismissed Wednesday.

Scheffler was arrested about two weeks ago outside of the Valhalla Golf Club, which was hosting the PGA Championship, in Louisville, Kentucky.

He was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, second-degree assault of a police officer, reckless driving and ignoring signals from officers who were directing traffic, according to reports.

The incident occurred when Scheffler was driving into the course parking lot in the predawn hours, after a fatal vehicle-pedestrian accident hours earlier.

Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell announced that the charges would be dropped based on the evidence.
