Customers have an opportunity to receive a refund as part of a settlement from Verizon lawsuit
The settlement was approved in December, but a “fairness hearing” will occur in March.
Some customers of the wireless network, Verizon, potentially have an opportunity to get a refund as part of the proposed $100 million settlement from a class-action lawsuit against the company.
Those who are eligible are receiving letters in the mail to file a claim by April 15 to receive up to $100. This is as a result of the lawsuit alleging that Verizon charged its customers fees that were “unfair and not adequately disclosed," according to CNN.
Plaintiffs say that Verizon's “administrative charge,” was misleading due to the fee not being disclosed in their plan’s price that was advertised monthly. They allege customers were charged in a “deceptive and unfair manner.”
Verizon has denied these claims and said in a statement that the network “clearly identifies and describes its wireless consumer admin charge multiple times during the sales transaction, as well as in its marketing, contracts and billing.”
The settlement was approved in December, but a “fairness hearing” will occur in March, CNN reports.
On Friday, a special website was launched for customers to apply for the refund and fill out the forms required to see if they qualify.
