The Texas Department of Public Safety on Friday fired Sgt. Juan Maldonado, the first state law enforcement officer to lose his job over the shooting.

Maldonado was one of the first officers on the scene at Robb Elementary School, according to Fox News, which reported on his termination.

The Texas DPS Inspector General was reviewing seven individuals, among them Maldonado, for their actions or inactions during the shooting, the outlet noted.

Other law enforcement officials have lost their jobs over their handling of the deadly massacre that resulted in 19 dead students and two dead faculty members.

Uvalde School District Police Department Chief Pete Arredondo was terminated by the school board's unanimous vote in late August. The district suspended its entire police force earlier this month.
