Former FBI official Lisa Page reaches tentative deal in suit against agency over emails with Strzok

Former FBI official Lisa Page has reached a settlement with the Justice Department over what she argues was a privacy violation by the agency for the release of her text messages with fellow agency official Pete Strzok.

The officials were involved in an extra-marital relationship when the damaging emails were exchanged, during the 2016 presidential election cycle. At least some of the emails made clear their opposition to Trump getting elected.  

The tentative agreement appeared in a court filing Tuesday.

If approved the judge presiding over the matter, the settlement deal will resolve in full  the 5-year-old case Page brought against the FBI, according to CNN. She had sought financial damages of at least $1,000 for the alleged privacy violations.

Strzok, whom the FBI fired, has yet to settle his part of the suit, in which he is seeking  backpay and his job back, according to the filing, reviewed by CNN.

Lawyers for Strzok and Page have declined to comment or to provide further detail on the settlement.
