Hunter Biden defense lawyer says he will call presidential brother James Biden to testify
Jim Biden is a central figure in GOP concerns about him and nephew Hunter Biden using the family name to secure lucrative business deals
Hunter Biden defense attorney Abbe Lowell told the Delaware court Tuesday in his client's federal gun trial that he plans to call presidential bother James Biden to testify in the case.
Hunter and his uncle Jim are widely considered close. Jim Biden helped the first son through drug rehab in the past, according to the Associated Press.
In the background of the trial, Hunter and James Biden are at the center of allegations from House Republicans that the Biden family members used their last name in an effort to peddle influence and secure lucrative foreign deals while the family patriarch, Joe Biden, was Vice President.
The younger Biden remembered his uncle fondly in his memoir, "Beautiful Things," detailing his role in helping him to rehab in California.
“Dad knew that if his younger brother asked me to do something, I’d do it,” Hunter wrote in his memoir. “Uncle Jim has his own superpower: he gets things done. So he jumped on a plane to Los Angeles, pulled me out of a room in the Hollywood Roosevelt, and said, ‘I found a place. Let’s go.’”
