Iowa Supreme Court blocks six-week abortion ban
The decision now goes back to the lower court.
The Iowa Supreme Court on Friday voted 3-3 on a proposed six-week abortion ban, which means abortion will remain legal for up to 20 weeks.
The ruling failed to reach a majority regarding whether to overturn a lower court decision that had temporarily blocked Iowa Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds' attempt to reinstate a six-week abortion ban passed in 2018.
The decision now goes back to the lower court.
States that have a six-week abortion ban include Florida, Idaho and Kentucky.
This is a developing story.
