A federal judge in Massachusetts on Friday temporarily halted the deportation of a Turkish Tufts University doctoral student Rumeysa Ozturk whose visa was stripped over her anti-Israel activism.

Judge Denise Casper ruled on Friday that Ozturk "shall not be removed from the United States until further Order of this Court."

She argued that the school newspaper must recognize the "genocide" of Palestinians.

U.S. immigration officials detained her this week.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said she is among many students who have had their visas revoked over their activism against Israel.

"It might be more than 300 at this point. We do it every day. Every time I find one of these lunatics, I take away their visa," Rubio said during a press conference in Guyana on Thursday.
