Judge shuts down subpoenas for Melania Trump emails sought by DA Bragg
Merchan issued the decision on July 7, though it did not become public until July 27 as part of a court filing.
A New York judge shut down subpoenas from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office seeking emails from former first lady Melania Trump as part of their case against the former president over a 2016 payment to Stormy Daniels.
New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan last week ruled that the twin subpoenas were too broad in scope, saying they "would yield significantly more responsive records than necessary," according to the Epoch Times.
Merchan issued the decision on July 7, though it did not become public until July 27 as part of a court filing.
Bragg has brought 34 counts against Trump related to his then-personal attorney, Michael Cohen's, paying Stormy Daniels in 2016 ostensibly to keep quiet about an alleged affair between her and the then-presidential candidate.
