Jury convicts man who attacked Pelosi's husband of assault, attempted kidnapping

The man who last year attacked the husband of then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the couple's San Francisco home was convicted Thursday of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official.

The defendant, David DePape, was convicted by a jury in a federal court in San Fransisco, after about eight hours of deliberation. 

DePage admitted in the trial earlier this week that he broke into the Pelosis’ home on Oct. 28, 2022, with the intent to hold the congresswoman hostage and “break her kneecaps” if she lied to him, according to the Associated Press. 

The 43-year-old DePape faces up to 50 years in prison for the attack on then-82-year-old Paul Pelosi that was captured on police body camera video.
