Luigi Mangione waives extradition, may return to NY by Thursday
Mangione is currently in the custody of Pennsylvania authorities.
Luigi Mangione, whom authorities have alleged killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has opted to wave extradition and may return to New York by Thursday.
Mangione is currently in the custody of Pennsylvania authorities. He was apprehended last week and found in possession of a pistol.
His attorney confirmed his plans and prospective transport to the Empire State on Wednesday, ABC News reported. Mangione initially planned to fight his extradition, but ultimately reversed course.
A New York granted jury on Tuesday indicted Mangione on one count of first degree murder. He also faces two counts of second-degree murder, and a litany of gun possession charges.
Thompson was killed on Dec. 4.
