NY DA Bragg opposes Trump’s demand to delay hush money trial over ‘prejudicial’ media coverage

The office of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is opposing former President Trump’s request that his upcoming hush money trial be delayed on the argument of prejudicial publicity. 

Prosecutors argued the trial set to begin April 15 should proceed as planned and that the request was the eighth such by the Trump legal team to postpone the start – as part of a broader legal strategy to delay all four of his criminal trials until after the November election, in which Trump is the presumptive GOP nominee, according to court papers made public Wednesday and reviewed by The Hill newspaper. 

Trump renewed his demand last week that the trial be postponed indefinitely because of the intense media coverage. He also argues the coverage prejudices potential jurors, preventing a fair trial.

The trial will be Trump's first criminal trial.
