Former Trump adviser Peter Navarro, in an emergency request on Friday, asked the U.S. Supreme Court to let him avoid reporting to federal prison, pending appeal, to serve his four month sentence for contempt of Congress.

He has been ordered to report to a prison in Miami, Florida, by March 19.

“Navarro is indisputably neither a flight risk nor a danger to public safety should he be released pending appeal,” his attorneys said, according to CNN.

Navarro was sentenced to prison earlier this year for failing to comply with a subpoena from the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

He was convicted of two counts of contempt of Congress last year.

Navarro's appeal to the Supreme Court followed a unanimous decision on Thursday from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals denying his request, stating that he had failed to sufficiently demonstrate why he should stay free while the appeal of his criminal conviction plays out, according to the outlet.
